Friend of Albam and one of the faces of our latest AW26 campaign, John Alfredo Harris.
We recently caught up with John at one of his workshops, tucked away in the countryside just outside St Leonards on Sea, where British photographer John Spinks joined us to document the visit.
John has been designing and making furniture and objects for over three decades, combining the traditions of cabinet making with a freedom of visual expression. Working with reclaimed and eco friendly sourced timber, John lets the material play a part in what each piece becomes, allowing the grain, form and history of the wood to remain visible in the finished work.
His practice spans furniture, tableware and interior objects, as well as one off commissions and editions. There is a real individuality to everything John makes, with the origins and character of the material always present.
John is currently exhibiting at The Rye Club in Rye until 20th September. If you’re nearby, it’s well worth a visit.
